Real Madrid's season has got off to a flying start with a resounding 4-0 victory over promoted Malaga, extending manager Jose Mourinho's unbeaten streak. The match at the Santiago Bernabeu showcased the attacking prowess of the Spanish giants, with goals from Jude Bellingham, an own goal by Malaga's Alfonso Herrero, and a stunning Kylian Mbappe volley. Arda Guler sealed the triumph in added time, maintaining Real Madrid's perfect record in La Liga this season.
Bellingham's stunning individual goal opened the scoring in the 19th minute, showcasing his remarkable dribbling skills as he glided past three defenders before slotting the ball beneath Herrero. The Malaga goalkeeper's own goal shortly afterwards, following a rebound from Mbappe's initial shot, effectively ended the contest before the halftime whistle.
Mbappe, in his typical clinical manner, made it 3-0 with a fine volley in the 30th minute, capitalizing on a cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold. Real Madrid, though, appeared to ease off after the break, allowing Malaga brief moments of possession.
The second half lacked the intensity of the first, but substitute Arda Guler rekindled the game's momentum in the dying minutes. The Turkish midfielder, who came on late in the game, combined with Vinicius Junior to wrap up the victory, making it a clean sheet for Real Madrid and further solidifying Mourinho's reputation for bringing success to his teams.
Manager Jose Mourinho, who has made five changes to his starting lineup in the first two league matches, showed his tactical versatility once again. Marc Cucurella was given his first start for the club, with Trent Alexander-Arnold slotting in on the right side.
Despite the convincing victory, Real Madrid remains cautious. With Atletico Madrid and Alaves trailing by just two points, Mourinho's side will not take their feet off the pedal. Barcelona, currently fourth with six points and a game in hand, host Rayo Vallecano on Monday, meaning Real Madrid will have to continue their momentum to maintain their top position.
The win also serves as a morale boost for Mourinho's team ahead of their Champions League campaign, which kicks off with a home match against Inter Milan a few days later. Malaga, on the other hand, will have to regroup and focus on their domestic fixtures to avoid further disappointment.
Malaga's brief resistance was undermined by a series of poor defensive errors, particularly by Herrero, who was caught out by Bellingham's initial goal and then by his own mistake. The keeper's struggles in goal highlighted the need for improvements as the newly promoted side looks to establish themselves in the top flight.
For Real Madrid, the match served as a reminder of their attacking power, with Bellingham and Mbappe leading the charge. Both players have been instrumental in the team's early-season form, and their performances against Malaga have only solidified their status as key players in Mourinho's side.
The match also featured an early chance for Alexander-Arnold, who came close to opening the scoring within the opening minute with an exquisite curling shot. His early attempt, just wide of the far post, was a glimpse of the threat he poses to opponents in the coming seasons.
Real Madrid's perfect start to the season has been a testament to Mourinho's management and the team's commitment to their tactical approach. With more fixtures on the horizon, fans can expect to see more of the same attacking brilliance from the Spanish giants.
As the season progresses, Real Madrid will be looking to maintain their perfect start and challenge for La Liga honors. The dominance over Malaga is a positive sign for the future, with the team's attacking core looking sharp and determined to achieve their goals.
